What we do in the winter!

Embar Pottery has a bit of down time over the winter. We do very few shows over the winter and early spring months, although our static units at Dedham arts and Crafts centre and Creatively crafty run throughout the year. We usually come out of hibernation on the fair front around easter!
I would like to say we spend the winter having some time off, but this is actually a busy period in our year!

Winter is the time that we spend planning the year ahead and early spring is spent in a manic whirl of stock building for the craft fairs to come.
Our winter planning/brain storming has resulted in some new stock lines (more details of these to come over the next few weeks) deciding which of our established lines we are going to continue this year and which we are going to put on the back burner for a while.

It is also the time we plan our craft fair season. So far we have 11 craft shows planned (you can see the full list at http://www.embarpottery.co.uk/aboutus.html) and it is this decision that prompts the early spring manic whirl!

Now we have decided what fairs we are going to do and when, we have to get our basic stock levels up. So the potter has been very busy!
This week she has been making one of our core lines, the butterfly house numbers
Due to the recent rubbish weather, everything is being a bit slow to dry, so these (along with about 20 others!) are currently residing within the house to dry off! Once dry they will be fired and will then be ready for glazing. If you have never seen them finished then check them out .. http://www.embarpottery.co.uk/housenumber.html

We like to start the fairs with a core amount of these numbers made, but due to there flat (easy to transport when wet!) nature they are a favourite of the potter to make at the craft fairs, so if you are planning to come and visit us, you can look out for them being made!

New Blog

I have decided to start a blog about Embar Pottery life. You can already see our products on our website (www.embarpottery.co.uk) and updates about new products we are making on our Embar Pottery Facebook Page. This (I think!) is going to be more informal about the goings on at embar pottery. It might develop into something else, but we will have to see how it goes!

Ps I am a bit new to this, so you will have to forgive me, while I experiment with all the buttons!!
